South Callaway High School students participated in Manufacturing Day by visiting Walsworth, Danuser, Hitachi and nVent. They learned about various jobs at each location, participated in tours, and got to ask questions about potential futures with each company. Students also participated in the Build My Future Event in Jefferson City. This event included several different construction trades, colleges/trade schools, and various employers/businesses. Students got the chance to weld, drive heavy equipment, and use carpentry tools to build items to take home. #rootEdMissouri

SC Special Announcement School-Community Connection. SNAP Concerns Several people from the community have asked what the government shut-down means for them and their SNAP benefits for the month of November. According to the Department of Social Services website, federal funding for SNAP recipients has been put on a hold for November until further notice. Although this is concerning, we do not want anybody to panic. We are prepared to share resources and connect families with local resources to ensure no student goes hungry. The School Market is fully stocked and we encourage families to utilize this free resource to help bridge the gap during this time of uncertainty. If your child does not currently shop the Market weekly or receive a Buddy Pack, reach out to Cassie to get on the list. Resource Spotlight: The School Market South Callaway has a School Market where students and their families can access non-perishable foods, personal care items, and clothes-ALL FREE! The School Market is a great resource for students and their families who need a little extra support. We are grateful for our Food Bank and community partners that continue to support this barrier-breaking resource. Students and families can access The Market upon appointment by calling/texting Cassie or scanning the QR code on the next page.
Helpful Tips: Making SNAP Stretch: As we approach November, here are a few easy tips that can help stretch your SNAP benefits for the month of November: • Utilize The School Market for additional food. • Utilize the School Market for personal care items like deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion to free up money to purchase food. Avoid purchasing name brand items, soda, candy, or non-essential food items. • Look up recipes on Pintrest or TikTok that only require a few ingredients. Fill out the free/reduced lunch form and have your child eat breakfast and lunch at school. (Ask. for an application from Cassie or Central Office.) SC - The South Callaway Middle School Student Council recently organized a food drive to benefit Serve. The drive, which concluded on September 30, was a great success with over 333 items collected. Student Council hosted a friendly competition among the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes. In the end, Mrs. Hecktor's 2nd hour class earned first place, contributing nearly 100 items on their own. As a reward for their outstanding effort, STUCO will provide a pizza lunch party for the winning class. Students are now using what they learned and applying it to the fictional library mystery.

The ES celebrated the 1st Quarter by honoring students yesterday at an awards assembly. Our character trait this quarter was “Respect.” A student from each class was selected for going above and beyond displaying respect towards others. The second award represented Bulldog Leadership. As a student of South Callaway Elementary we strive to provide students with leadership opportunities in our daily tasks. These students shined in those roles the past couple of months. Congratulations to these award winners.
