Today our staff gathered for the first of 4 days of learning and preparing to give students a great start to the new school year. We welcomed new staff and received important updates and legislation notes from our Superintendent Corey Pontius. In addition, teachers learned about special services, technology, student health, and security.

Middle School Readiness Camp Gets Off to a Great Start!
What an awesome start to our camp! This week, our future middle schoolers are getting a real taste of what’s ahead. We kicked things off with fun (and tricky!) ice breaker challenge: building a tower strong enough to hold a textbook—without always being able to talk or use certain tools! A great lesson on how important communication and the right classroom tools are for success. Next, students went on a scavenger hunt around the building, learning the layout and locating key classrooms and offices. Later, we dove into academics with a fascinating article on the history of fireworks, practicing annotation and summarizing skills. Afterward, we took a sensory walk, observing the world with all five senses and reflecting with journal entries. We wrapped up the day with a tour of the locker rooms, a quick lesson on PE expectations, some physical activities, and a hilarious relay race where students had to “dress out” for PE with oversized clothes! We had a blast and can’t wait to be back tomorrow for more fun and learning!
